THIS TANK HAS A POLE TO SUPPORT THE ROOF, AS YOU CAN SEE THE POLE HAS SMASHED THOUGH THE TANK. When the manufacture uses less plastic OR a less quality type of polyethylene (plastic) in production (MEANING THINNER WALLS IN OVERALL TANK AND LESS TANK WEIGHT) normally they will insert a pole to support the roof. The water’s weight pulls down on the roof putting too much weight on the pole and eventually the pole ends up through the roof.

LETTING UNWANTED VERMEN INTO YOUR CLEAN WATER CONTAMAINATING IT. BUT MORE OF A PROBLEM IS THIS TANK MAY EVENTUALLY COLLAPSE.

 

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POLY AND STEEL TANKS

GALVANIZED AND OTHER TYPES OF STEEL TANKS WITH A POLYMER SKIN BONDED TO THE INNER SURFACE OF THE SHEETING CAN RUST OR HAVE PROBLEMS WITH ELECTROLISES STARTING FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE TANK EVENTUALLY RUSTING THROUGH.

POLY TANKS DO NOT HAVE RUST PROBLEMS AT ALL.

MOST LARGE STEEL TANKS I HAVE SEEN OR REMOVED HAVE HAD ROOF SUPPORT POLES.

You should ask these questions about steel tanks:

IS THE POLOMER SKIN UV STABILISED FROM LIGHT COMING THOUGH THE STRAINER, MANHOLES ECT… Does warranty cover this?

What is your manufacture warranty? Some are only 30 days

What is your steel product warranty? Most 10 years or better

 

THE TASTE DIFFERENCE OF TANKS

SOME PEOPLE ASK ABOUT THE TASTE OF THE WATER FROM A POLY TANK. OUR TANKS ARE MADE OF FOOD GRADE, UV STABILISED POLYETHYLENE. MEANING THERE IS NO TASTE OTHER THAN THE WATER YOU ARE DRINKING.

 

STEEL TANKS WITH AN INSIDE POLYMER SKIN ARE THE ONLY TANK TO MEET THE SAME STANDARDS OF FOOD GRADE (IF YOU ARE CONCERNED THEN DON’T BUY THIS TYPE OF STEEL TANK EITHER). IN EFFECT THIS IS THE ONLY STEEL TANK DEEMED SAFE FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. Please contact your steel tank supplier or BHP for more information.

 

CONCRETE TANKS DO HAVE AN INITIAL TASTE THAT NORMALLY SETTLES AFTER SOME TIME. Please ask about food grade information and how it works with this type of tank DUE TO THE POROUS NATURE OF CONCRETE.
